Based in Witney, Oxfordshire, The Flooring Centre has an expansive range of luxury vinyl flooring supplies sourced from two of the UK’s best loved manufacturers. These include Amtico, for which we are the area’s trusted specialist, and Karndean. Below, we’ve looked to explain what exactly luxury vinyl is, before providing an overview of the Amtico and Karndean ranges we stock.
For advice on navigating our range, or to ask our friendly team a question, call 01993 704 989. We have over 39 years of experience in the industry, and can help you invest in your property through the supply and installation of stunning luxury vinyl flooring.
While the first ever vinyl flooring supplies were known for their cheap feel and garish designs, the format has come along leaps and bounds over the years. This was why the term “luxury vinyl” was first coined, to differentiate new manufacturing techniques from the old. Luxury vinyl products are typically made from calcium carbonate, polyvinyl chloride and a mixture of pigments.
They have five layers in total, including two PVC backing layers, a HD photographic layer, a clear wear-level and a final polyurethane protective coat. This makes for an incredibly durable floor tile or plank that can a) emulate natural materials like wood and stone, or b) embrace its synthetic roots with a colourful modern design. Amtico is the UK’s LVT titan. Recognised by Amtico as a recommended retailer, The Flooring Centre has installed countless of their floors throughout Oxfordshire, helping elevate the interiors of clients through the careful selection and integration of long-lasting, functional and stylish products.
There are three core product ranges that Amtico offers, each of which brings something a little bit different to the table. All three can be found at our Witney showroom, laid out across a number of informative and easy to navigate display stands.
A collection made up of a mixture of planks and tiles featuring 0.55mm wear layers. Typically minimalist in design, they look to emulate wood and stone, or execute abstract contemporary designs that suit more modern homes. They’re resistant to water, spills and splashes, are easy to clean and are compatible with under floor heating. Ensuring client peace of mind, 25 year guarantees come as standard.
Featuring 0.7mm wear layers for added durability, the Form collection includes uncanny depictions of wood and natural stone. Wood emulations are embossed with natural grain finishes to add texture, and a feeling of depth of character. There are also a range of Form floors that mimic ceramics, which are ideal for contemporary design schemes in Oxfordshire homes. All luxury flooring supplies within this collection come with 30 year guarantees.
Boasting 1.00mm wear layers that are unrivalled in dealing with the stresses of everyday use, Amtico’s signature collection is its premium, flagship range. Favoured by the talented interior designers in Oxfordshire and the wider UK, Amtico’s Signature range features 218 products and 19 signature laying patterns, so you can achieve a sense of luxury in your property while still having a lot of room to get creative.
One of the UK’s best known manufacturers of luxury vinyl flooring, Karndean’s products are at the very cutting edge, perfectly balancing form and functionality. The Flooring Centre, a Karndean approved supplier and installer covering all of Oxfordshire, uses its expertise to help clients find the perfect product to suit their needs, maximising the investment made within their property.
Karndean products are often realistic emulations of natural materials like hardwood and various types of stone. But where natural materials can be extremely expensive, difficult to maintain, and totally unsuitable for certain environments (e.g wood floors in bathrooms) – LVT flooring supplies overcome these issues; they’re affordable, low maintenance and resistant to stains, spills and the effects of humidity.
They can either be installed in the traditional manner with adhesives, or lay loose over a subfloor. And don’t just think that what you see is what you get, for Karndean products can often be personalised with design strips and borders, or mixed and matched to create one of a kind floors that serve as the eye-catching centre piece of any room in which they feature.
