Carpet making is one of the oldest known crafts dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
In the 19th century a wealth of beautiful rugs and carpets were produced in the orient to meet demand form the west.Today carpet weaving is big business and takes place on a hugh commercial scale.

Traditional carpets and rugs are however still being made in villages and towns where synthetic or vegetable dyes are used.
